| Our company
takes great pride in protecting the heritage of hunting.
We are dedicated to preserving a way of life that is
becoming more and more unpopular in today’s modern
culture. Our feature stories area is dedicated to this
purpose—sharing hunting stories that relay the
joy, dedication and ethical principles that have been
handed down to us by our fathers and grandfathers. KOM
will give special consideration to stories that promote
this way of thinking and that feature people who make
a difference in this regard. Don’t be surprised
if many of the stories are about outfitters. |

| Rules for Submitting
a Feature Story on KOM’s Website |
1. Make sure you include complete
contact information for yourself and everyone mentioned
by name in your story. KOM must have a phone number
to get permission from every person mentioned by name
in your feature story in order to publish your story
on our website. All sources will be vigorously checked
for accuracy. By submitting a story and photo, you
agree to these terms. |
2. Although, hunting yarns are
as old as the hills. Our website is not the place
for such stories. Only true stories will be considered
for publication on our website. Please refrain from
submitting fiction. By submitting a story and photo,
you agree to these terms. |
3. Stories about people are more
interesting than stories about animals. Make sure
that your story gives our readers insight into the
person the story is about not just the animal they
are hunting. Revealing what that person feels and
thinks as they are hunting is a good way to make your
story more interesting. |
4. Although KOM will have many
hunting stories as features, we also hope to have
some biographical features about hunters and outfitters.
These types of stories may not include anything other
than insight into who a person is or what they do
for a living. There are a lot of really great people
in the hunting world whose lives make interesting
reading even when they are not hunting. If you know
a person like this, feel free to write about them. |
5. KOM reserves the right to
edit the copy or accompanying art of any feature story
or art submitted, without prior notice or permission
of the original author. By submitting a story and
photo, you agree to these terms. |
6. Feature stories and art submitted
for publication on King of the Mountain’s website
must be the intellectual property of the person submitting
said material at the time of submission. Persons submitting
said material to King of the Mountain agree that they
are the sole intellectual owner of material submitted
for publication. Persons submitting said materials
accept sole financial and legal responsibility for
any and all legal action or awards thereof as a result
of misrepresentation of ownership of submitted materials,
whether knowingly or unknowingly, at the time of submission.
By submitting a story and photo, you agree to these
terms. |
(In simple terms,
only submit stories you personally have written/own
and photos you personally have taken/own.
If you steal another person/company’s
story or photo and attempt to pass it off
as your own for publication on King of the
Mountain’s website, you are breaking
the law. If you break the law in this manner,
you accept all responsibility for any criminal
or legal consequences those actions bring.
In short, don’t steal stories or photos
and then give them to King of the Mountain
for publication. If you do break the law in
this manner, you agree to pay for all of King
of the Mountain’s legal fees when we
are sued. If King of the Mountain gets sued
because of something you illegally submitted
to us, when we lose in court, you agree to
pay whatever the judge awards the person you
stole from.) |
|
7. King of the Mountain reserves
all first-print rights of any stories submitted for
publication on our website. Submitting a story relieves
the author of first-print rights. By submitting you
agree to these terms. (This means KOM gets to say
we printed your story first) Don’t submit stories
that have already been published somewhere else. |
| 8. All stories must include a 3”X3” photo
scanned at a resolution of at least 72 dpi, or 400 X
400 pixels, to be considered. |
| 9. Make sure all stories are free of spelling and
grammatical errors. |
| 10. Don’t be offended if your story isn’t
published. With the vast number of entries, not everyone
will get published. This doesn’t mean King of
the Mountain doesn’t value you as a customer or
that your story is not worthy of publishing. |
| 11. Have fun. Teach your children to hunt. Practice
safe hunting and God bless. |
